Experience
Mother Kris has operated her own counseling service in several states since 2003, with her current license held in Maryland since 2020. In her practice, Intuitive Wellness Counseling, her focus is in cognitive behavioral therapy for individuals ages 16 and up. She also specializes in trauma work, with a focus on healing around religious trauma. Her seminary experience provided her with specialized training in pastoral counseling and spiritual direction.
Mother Kris also serves as Rector of Trinity Episcopal Church in Natchitoches and also serves on the diocesan staff of the Rt. Rev. Jacob W. Owensby, Bishop of the Diocese of Western Louisiana, as the Missioner for Wellness and Mental Health. In this role, Mother Kris will help develop mental health and wellness initiatives within the diocese.
Education
The Rev. Kristen (Kris) Paul received her Master of Divinity degree from the University of the South in May 2024 and was ordained a priest in June 2024. Kris has also earned degrees in counseling (B.A. – Stony Brook University, 1995 and M.A. – Argosy University, 2003) and a law degree (J.D. – Arizona State University, 2007).

Welcome to Mind Over Matters: A Mental Health Alliance for Natchitoches. Our mission it to provide you, the Natchitoches community, with trusted, accurate, up-to-date, and unbiased mental health and wellness information.
In addition, we are excited to provide you with information on where to go and how to get mental health treatment in our community and beyond.
Much of the information we have for you will be delivered through this website. However, we sponsor in person classes throughout the community as well.
M/M information is geared toward the needs of the Natchitoches community. We have partnered with community leaders and learned about the special mental health challenges of the people we all see, work with, and go to school with every day.
