Mrs. Porterie is a compassionate and dedicated Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) with a wealth of experience and a proactive approach to fostering individual and community well-being. With a MasterÔÇÖs in Social Work (4.18 GPA) from Louisiana State University and a BachelorÔÇÖs in Psychology with a focus on Child and Family Relations, Mrs. Porterie is passionate about empowering individuals through evidenced-based interventions, crisis intervention, and holistic support.
Throughout Mrs. PorterieÔÇÖs career, the professional journey has been diverse and enriching. At the Natchitoches Parish School Board, Mrs. Porterie serves as a School Support Specialist, providing individual counseling, facilitating group social work groups, and coordinating family and community engagement events such as ÔÇ£March Makeover: Wellness Edition.ÔÇØ At Volunteers of America of North Louisiana in Mansfield, LA, Mrs. Porterie offered clinical services as a Mental Health Professional II, addressing the needs of adolescents with severe mental health challenges through evidenced-based interventions.
During an internship at the Alexandria Veterans Administration Health Care System, Mrs. Porterie honed skills in interdisciplinary teamwork, psychosocial assessments, and advocacy, assisting with veteransÔÇÖ housing and case management needs. A remote internship with Louisiana State University provided the opportunity to address challenges posed by COVID-19 through innovative community outreach projects.
In previous roles, Mrs. Porterie served as a Parent Educator with the Parents as Teachers program, maintaining a caseload of 20 families, conducting developmental screenings, and fostering parental engagement. As Program Director at Future Expectations, CCS in Natchitoches, Mrs. Porterie ensured compliance with home and community-based service regulations while directing agency operations. Additionally, as a Mental Health Specialist with Rehabilitation Services of CENLA, Mrs. Porterie delivered psychosocial skills training and crisis intervention.
Mrs. Porterie excels in coordinating grants such as The Rapides Foundation Healthy Behaviors Initiative and AWARE 2 and has developed wellness initiatives like Wellness Wednesday for school staff. With strong organizational and interpersonal skills, Mrs. Porterie collaborates seamlessly with parents, educators, and community agencies to meet the diverse needs of individuals and families.

In addition, we are excited to provide you with information on where to go and how to get mental health treatment in our community and beyond.
Much of the information we have for you will be delivered through this website. However, we sponsor in person classes throughout the community as well.
M/M information is geared toward the needs of the Natchitoches community. We have partnered with community leaders and learned about the special mental health challenges of the people we all see, work with, and go to school with every day.
